As a responsible member of the society, REDAS also contributes towards making Singapore a
better place to live and work in. Our programmes
include:
·
The Building Art Fund
The Building Art Fund started in the early
1990s to generate greater awareness for the importance of the internal &
external art in buildings, and the creation of an aesthetic environment in and
around buildings.
The Fund aims at promoting architectural
design competitions and 3-D art (sculptures and visual arts –paintings &
calligraphy) to adorn buildings. The Fund is also used to nurture and create
opportunities for budding artists. REDAS
was one of the award recipients for "Friend of the Arts Award" at the
Patron of the Art Award 2000 organised by National
Arts Council on 1 September 2000. Sculpture Square is one of the many
beneficiaries of the REDAS Building
Art Fund.
In September 2000, REDAS
sponsored one house to be erected by the Global Housing Foundation. The latter
initiated a low-cost housing project in the inner city slums of Managua, Nicaragua
to provide basic housing for the very poor.
·
REDAS Award Scheme
(Previously known as Research & Educational Fund)
The REDAS’
Research & Education Fund was set up in 1989 to provide avenues for the
Association to undertake research programmes, award
scholarships, bursaries, gold medal, book prizes to
certain approved institutes of higher learning as well as to participate in
other educational programme or undertake projects
pertaining to the real estate industry. Beneficiaries for the above Fund are
students from tertiary institutions/polytechnics, namely National University of
Singapore, Nanyang
Technological University,
Temasek
Polytechnic, Singapore
Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
The Fund was renamed to be aligned with
its new focus and objective for REDAS
to discharge its corporate social responsibilities in a meaningful and
cost-effective manner that would benefit REDAS,
its members, REDAS’ business
partners and/or the recipients of the Scheme. The new Scheme awards the top
student or a team of students for the outstanding final year project with
practical application to the real estate industry.
